COMMENTARY:
It's been a long road for 3 Doors Down, unless you dont call peaking in the upper teens, then falling almost out of the top 30, then rebounding back into the top ten, and then eventually scoring a #1 hit after 22 weeks a long journey. Well, we do. 3 Doors Down's "When Im Gone" (say that five times fast) has finally reached #1, bumping out Kid Rock and Vanilla Veteran Sheryl Crow's "Picture." There's still room for them, as they take the #2 spot. Trailing behind, Linkin Park's "Somewhere I Belong" stays at #3 for another week. Up two spots from #6 are Vanilla Veterans No Doubt's "Running," at #4 (now say that five times fast). Last, but certainly not least, the Dixie Chicks fall yet another spot to #5 with their patriotic "Travelin' Soldier."
Hanging out right next to the top ten is Audioslave up three spots with "Like a Stone." Vanilla critics say that next to Linkin Park, this is the only song that has a chance at #1 in the coming weeks. The Dixie Chicks land another week at lucky #7 with "Landslide," now eligible for a Veterans Award in its 30th week. At #8, Nas jumps two spots higher and reaches his all time career high with "I Can." Entering the top ten, Christina Aguilera's "Fighter" reaches #9. Lastly, Evanescence has been steadily increasing since their debut date. Vanilla critics predicted a potential #1 for the song. As time goes by, Evanescence has "fallen" to #10 with "Bring Me To Life," possibly due to some recent comments from the band regarding Christianity.
The Vanilla Headquarters released the following statement:
"Evanescence was definitely on their way to #1. Regarding some comments made late this week, they have been bumped down to #10. Its not too late to still climb the charts, but with new top tens from Linkin Park, Audioslave, Nas, and Christina Aguilera, they may have lost their chance."
Will they fall out of the top ten next week, or will they rebound? Only time will tell.
Meanwhile, things are looking great for Daniel Beddingfield. His latest, "If You're Not The One" is this weeks Greatest Gainer as it jumped from #38 to #23. Other songs on the rise come courtesy of the White Stripes, Fleetwood Mac, Mercy Me, and Kelly Clarkson.
There were a handful of debuts this week. Ten to be exact. Trapt debuts with the honor of Hot Shot Debut, as "Headstrong" debuts at #62. Two spots lower, Da Brat comes out of the heatseekers to #64 with "In Love Wit Chu." P.O.D. also debuts relatively high at #79 with their latest, "Sleeping Awake." Other debuts include Monica, the All-American Rejects, Zwan, Shania Twain, Cold, the Deftones, and Smilez & Southstar.
So there you have it. 3 Doors Down at #1, Evanescence have "fallen," Trapt debuts high, and we have another great week. So who will be #1 next week? Vanilla Critics are saying 3 Doors Down will probably reign for a while, (the last time they predicted something like this was the Dixie Chicks' "Landslide," just so you know what a while is). Linkin Park and Audioslave may take it in the coming weeks, so be warned. Have a nice spring break, Peace!
