Album of the Year
 Dixie Chicks, Home
 Eminem, The Eminem Show
Norah Jones, Come Away With Me

Nelly, Nellyville
 Bruce Springsteen, The Rising
COMMENTS: Out of the two I have (Jones & Dixie Chicks) they are both deserving. But the Dixie Chicks just go lyrically on a different level than Jones. I think Norah Jones and Bruce Springsteen both have a really nice shot at winning this. Nelly and Eminem are both unlikely, even though they've sold a lot of records. I think that the Dixie Chicks are most deserving, but probably won't win.

Record of the Year
 Vanessa Carlton, "A Thousand Miles"
 Eminem, "Without Me"
 Norah Jones, "Don't Know Why"
 Nelly featuring Kelly Rowland, "Dilemma"
 Nickelback, "How You Remind Me"
COMMENTS: Out of all these songs, the only song that comes remotely close to Norah Jones is Vanessa Carlton. But, I do think Norah Jones deserves it the most, as do I think the Grammys think. There's no doubt in my mind that Norah's taking this award home.

Song of the Year
 Avril Lavigne, "Complicated"
Avril Lavigne & The Matrix, songwriters
 Norah Jones, "Don't Know Why"
Jesse Harris, songwriter
 Bruce Springsteen, "The Rising"
Bruce Springsteen, songwriter
 Vanessa Carlton, "A Thousand Miles"
Vanessa Carlton, songwriter
Alan Jackson, "Where Were You (When The World Stopped Turning)"
Alan Jackson, songwriter
COMMENTS: Again, this song is awesome. I think Jesse Harris did an awesome job at writing this. I do think the Grammys will give her either this award, or the Best record award. If she wins the best record award, Bruce Springsteen might walk away with this, for "The Rising."

Best New Artist
 Ashanti
 Michelle Branch
 Norah Jones
 Avril Lavigne
 John Mayer
COMMENTS: I have all these artists CD's, and think they are all very deserving and talented, and are better than most of the previous winners for this title. But I think out of the five, the top three are Michelle Branch, Norah Jones, and John Mayer. It's very hard to narrow it down, but I'd like to see Michelle Branch get this, because she really set the stage for teenage female singer-songwriters. I think John Mayer and Norah Jones are also very well deserved. I think Norah Jones will definately take this title.

Best Pop Vocal Album
Norah Jones, Come Away With Me
 Avril Lavigne, Let Go
 No Doubt, Rock Steady
 Pink, Missundaztood
 Britney Spears, Britney
COMMENTS: Just because I'm a huge fan of No Doubt, I think they should win this. If not, definately Pink. Her album means a lot and touches many people. Because this is a pop category, Norah Jones might not win this. Either Pink or Avril Lavigne may walk away with this, preferably Pink.

Best Female Pop Vocal Performance
Sheryl Crow, "Soak Up The Sun"
 Norah Jones, "Don't Know Why"
 Avril Lavigne, "Complicated"
 Pink, "Get The Party Started"
 Britney Spears, "Overprotected"
COMMENTS: Again, Norah Jones deserves this for this song. Sheryl Crow has many great tracks, but "Soak Up the Sun" isn't one of the best. Same with Pink. I'd prefer "Family Portrait," or "Eventually" to "Get The Party Started. Avril and Britney probably won't get this either. My bets are on Ms. Norah.

Best Male Pop Vocal Performance
 Craig David, "7 Days"
 Elton John  "Original Sin"
John Mayer, "Your Body Is A Wonderland"
 Sting, "Fragile"
 James Taylor, "October Road"
COMMENTS: I think that John Mayer is very deserving, just not for this song. "No Such Thing" would have been a better choice for the Grammys. But with contendors like Craig David, Elton John, and Sting, he's the only one I'd give credit to. I do believe that Elton John will win this though.

Best Rock Album
Elvis Costello, When I Was Cruel

Sheryl Crow, C'mon, C'mon
 Robert Plant, Dreamland
 Tonic, Head on Straight
COMMENTS: So she's not what you're definition of rock is, but she's the defenition of sophisticated good music. Sheryl Crow will win this. Guaranteed. It's an awesome album and shows how artistic Sheryl is. And, she just doesn't give up. Also, be on the lookout for another anti-war T-Shirt sported by Crow. The Grammys love her, so I think she'll win this.

Best Female Rock Vocal Performance

Sheryl Crow, "Steve McQueen"
Melissa Etheridge, "The Weakness In Me"
 Avril Lavigne, "Sk8er Boi"
 Bonnie Raitt, "Gnawin' On It"
 Susan Tedeschi, "Alone"
COMMENTS: Again, Sheryl Crow's not exactly rock, but this song is getting close. It's more rock than Lavigne's "Sk8er Boi." And like I said, the Grammys love Sheryl and will probably reward her with tihs.

Best Male Rock Vocal Performance
 David Bowie  "Slow Burn"
 Elvis Costello, "45"
Peter Gabriel, "The Barry Williams Show"
 Robert Plant, "Darkness, Darkness"
 Bruce Springsteen, "The Rising"
COMMENTS:
Bruce Springsteen is both deserving and likely to win at this point. It's a win-win situation. But, David Bowie could likely creep up and get there. Let's just hope Avril Lavigne's not presenting.

Best Alternative Music Album
 Beck, Sea Change
 Clinic, Walking With Thee
Coldplay, A Rush Of Blood To The Head
Elvis Costello & The Imposters, Cruel Smile
The Soundtrack Of Our Lives, Behind The Music
COMMENTS: There is no doubt in my mind this album will win from this category. Coldplay won for last year's "Parachutes," and this album is about five times as good. This album is very deserving and very likely to win. If you dont have the album, I highly suggest you get it, even if you're not a big fan. Coldplay represents good rock music, and in this case, good alternative music.

Best Rock Song
 Foo Fighters, "All My Life"
Chad Kroeger featuring Josey Scott   "Hero"
 Godsmack, "I Stand Alone"
 Bruce Springsteen, "The Rising"
3 Doors Down, "When I'm Gone"
COMMENTS
: I am currently rooting for 3 Doors down, but signs are pointing to Bruce Springsteen or Chad Kroeger. Most likely, Bruce Springsteen will win this.

Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group With Vocal
 Aerosmith, "Girls Of Summer"
 Coldplay, "In My Place"
 Creed, "My Sacrifice"
Chad Kroeger featuring Josey Scott, "Hero"
3 Doors Down, "When I'm Gone"
Tonic "Take Me As I Am"
 U2, "Walk On"
COMMENTS: If it were up to me, I'd definately give Coldplay this award, but noticing Grammy patterns, U2 usually wins something each year. So, I think the Grammys will give U2 yet another award for a song that was impacting a year ago.

Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group
 AZ featuring Nas, "The Essence"
 Big Tymers, "Still Fly"
Busta Rhymes featuring P. Diddy & Pharrell, "Pass The Courvoisier Part II"
Cam'Ron featuring Juelz Santana, "Oh Boy"
OutKast featuring Killer Mike, "The Whole World"
COMMENTS:
I don't picture AZ, Big Tymers, Busta Rhymes, or Cam'Ron winning a Grammy in their lives. Outkast is more believable. They were even nominated for best new artist. So, I think they're definately going to win this. Most Grammy voters will be familiar with them.

Best Female R&B Vocal Performance
 Aaliyah, "More Than A Woman"
 Ashanti, "Foolish"
Mary J. Blige, "He Think I Don't Know"
 Eartha, "I'm Still Standing"
Jill Scott, "He Loves Me (Lyzel in E Flat) (Movements I, II, III)"
COMMENTS: Although I'd like to see them reward Aaliyah for her great works, signs are pointing towards Ashanti. She won't win best new artist, but she'll win this. "Foolish" was a huge hit and was a big success for her. This is a good one to win.

Best Male R&B Vocal Performance
 Joe, "Let's Stay Home Tonight"
 R. Kelly, "The World's Greatest"
 Musiq, "Halfcrazy"
 Remy Shand, "Take A Message"
Usher, "U Don't Have To Call"
COMMENTS: The Grammys are likely to give the reward to Musiq, as he stands out more than these other contenders. He actually has good lyrics, not just pre-fab stuff. Also, he's not a child molester like R. Kelly. He's very deserving.

Best R&B Album
 India.Arie, Voyage To India
 Joe, Better Days
 Musiq, Juslisen
 Raphael Saadiq, Instant Vintage
Remy Shand, The Way I Feel
COMMENTS: I think that Musiq is very deserving, as I have listened to the album over and over again. But, after being shunned of her many nominations, India.Arie is likely to win. Also, she's the only female in this category, so female voters may tend to give it to her.

Best Male Rap Solo Performance
 Eminem, "Without Me"
 Jay-Z  "Song Cry"
 Ludacris, "Rollout (My Business)"
Mystikal, "Bouncin' Back (Bumpin' Me Against The Wall)"
 Nelly, "Hot In Herre"
COMMENTS: Eminem won't win Record of the Year, so he'll win this. I do think it's very undeserving, as the song has meaningless lyrics, but It'll win, no doubt. I'd rather see the more deserving "Song Cry" win though.

Best Female Rap Solo Performance
 Charli Baltimore, "Diary..."
 Missy Elliott  "Scream a.k.a Itchin'"
 Eve, "Satisfaction"
Foxy Brown, "Na Na Be Like"
 Lauryn Hill, "Mystery Of Iniquity"
COMMENTS: Missy Elliott's song doesn't ring a bell, and neither does Charli's or Foxy Brown's. Well, neither does Lauryn Hill's, but Lauryn Hill has proved that rap can have good lyrics. She will probably win this, because she is a Grammy favorite. Also, this song has a positive message, unlike some of the other nominees

Best Rap/Sung Collaboration
Fat Joe featuring Ashanti, "What's Luv?"
Ja Rule featuring Ashanti, "Always On Time"
Nappy Roots featuring Anthony Hamilton "Po' Folks"
 Nelly featuring Kelly Rowland, "Dilemma"
Justin Timberlake featuring Clipse, "Like I Love You"
COMMENTS: I would definately like to see Fat Joe and Ashanti win this, but my money is on Nelly. Nelly has been up for Record of the Year, but I doubt he'll win that. So, he's got to win this. Plus, they are performing on the show, so they've got to win. right? I'm willing to be this will win.

Best Metal Performance
 Korn, "Here To Stay"
 P.O.D., "Portrait"
 Slipknot, "My Plague"
 Stone Sour, "Get Inside"
Rob Zombie, "Never Gonna Stop (The Red, Red Kroovy)"
COMMENTS: Because P.O.D. is radiofriendly, that means they are Grammy-friendly too. They are attending the Grammys, and I think they'll win. I'd like to see them win as well.

Best Dance Recording
Daniel Bedingfield, "Gotta Get Thru This"
 Dirty Vegas, "Days Go By"
 Groove Armada, "Superstylin'"
Kylie Minogue, "Love At First Sight"
 No Doubt, "Hella Good"
COMMENTS:
No Doubt has lost many nominations before, but they have to win this. It's fun to see this ska-rock group get a nominee for Best Dance Recording too. I do think that they'll give it to Kylie Minogue though. No Doubt may go home empty-handed.

Best Pop Collaboration With Vocals
 Christina Aguilera featuring Redman, "Dirrty"
India.Arie & Stevie Wonder, "Christmas Song"
Tony Bennett & kd lang, "What A Wonderful World"
Natalie Cole & Diana Krall, "Better Than Anything"
Sheryl Crow & Don Henley, "It's So Easy"
Santana & Michelle Branch, "The Game Of Love"
COMMENTS: This Sheryl Crow duet with Don Henley is one of the best off the album. But, it has no radio play, and is just an album cut. On the other hand, Santana and Michelle Branch have been getting a lot of airplay, and the Grammys love Santana. Also, Michelle Branch probably won't get Best New Artist, so she might go home with one award.

Best R&B Performance by a Duo or Group With Vocal
Kenny G featuring Brian McKnight, "All The Way"
Nivea featuring Brian & Brandon Casey of Jagged Edge, "Don't Mess With My Man"
Angie Stone & Joe, "More Than A Woman"
 TLC, "Girl Talk"
Stevie Wonder & Take Six, "Love's In Need Of Love Today"
COMMENTS: Stevie Wonder will probably win this. I'd like to see Nivea win, but it's unlikely.

Best Hard Rock Performance
 Foo Fighters, "All My Life"
 Godsmack, "I Stand Alone"
 P.O.D., "Youth Of The Nation"
Queens Of The Stone Age, "No One Knows"
 System Of A Down   "Aerials"
COMMENTS: Again, the radio-friendly/Grammy-friendly P.O.D. will most likely take home an award for this. It's very likely because it has a very uplifting and positive message too.

Best Rap Album
 Eminem, The Eminem Show
 Ludacris, Word of Mouf
 Mystikal, Tarantula
 Nelly, Nellyville
Petey Pablo, Diary Of A Sinner: 1st Entry
COMMENTS: Hands down, Eminem will win tihs. I'm not too sure he'll win Album of the Year, but he'll win Best Rap Album. He's been shunned once before, but I think he'll get it this time.

Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group With Vocal
 Bon Jovi, "Everyday"
Bowling For Soup, "Girl All The Bad Guys Want"
Dave Matthews Band, "Where Are You Going"
 No Doubt, "Hey Baby"
 'NSYNC, "Girlfriend"
COMMENTS: I'd like to see No Doubt win this, but more than likely, Dave Matthews Band will win this. Bowling for Soup and NSYNC are very unlikely of the award.

Best Rock Instrumental Performance
The Flaming Lips, "Approaching Pavonis Mons By Balloon (Utopia Planitia)"
 Gov't Mule, "Sco-Mule"
 Tony Levin, "Apollo"
 Joe Satriani, "Starry Night"
Slash, "Love Theme From The Godfather"
COMMENTS: The Flaming Lips's latest CD is great, and this was on of the songs. I'm not too familiar with the rest, but the Grammys are likely to give this to them.
