Commentary:
It was no surprise that Kelly Clarkson would be this weeks hot shot debut, but after taking the American Idol crown, it wasnt as clear that she would debut straight at #1! Our experts predicted that Norah Jones would stay at the top spot for 2-3 more weeks, but she has to settle for #2. It took Norah 11 weeks to get to #1, and when she finally made it, it took Kelly just one week to debut at #1, taking her spot. Our experts predict Kelly is capable of spending anywhere from 5 weeks to 11 weeks or even more at the top spot. Kelly is the first artist to debut at #1 on the top 100. The rest of the top five include Michelle Branch, The Distillers, and big jumper Good Charlotte [#14-#5], respectively. Our experts predict that Michelle Branch, the Distillers, and Good Charlotte all have a good chance of reaching #1.

This was a huge week for debuts. Pink debuted Family Portrait, with high numbers at 24, and would most likely be the hot shot debut, without Kelly Clarksons debut. Brandys Come A Little Closer debuts at 26, and is the third highest debut, which also could have been the hot shot debut, if hadnt Clarkson or Pink. Our experts expect Pink to go to #1 in 3-4 weeks, and stay there for a couple weeks. Our experts predict in about 9-10 weeks, because it is very new, Brandy will reach #1. Both are still unpredictable, because Clarksons first single is predicted to stay at the top for a long time. On the other hand, other notable debuts include Jurassic 5, ISSYS, and Mariah Carey, who only had one day to debut, as her radio add was yesterday.

The rest of the top ten includes No Doubt, Pink, Avril Lavigne, Aaliyah, and Sheryl Crow, respectively. Our experts say that Avril Lavigne has the best shot at reaching #1, and could possibly reach it in about 4 weeks, but again, due to Kelly Clarkson, The Distillers, Michelle Branch, and Good Charlotte, it is very hard to predict.

The greatest gainer this week is Angie Martinezs If I Could Go as it leaps all the way from 34 to 11.

Tune in next week to see if Kelly Clarkson can work her magic at another week at #1. See if Angie Martinez can get her first top ten hit, and see all the new debuts. Until next time, this is the Vanilla Top 100.
