Commentary:
After Kelly Clarkson's fall, Its been really hard to predict what would be #1 lately. After the Distillers fell out, CamRon took their spot. It was predicted that Camron would either stay at #1, or Santana, Eminem, or Missy Elliott would take the position with their booming airplay. If not, maybe the Distillers could take #1 back again. Even Boxcar Racer was more likely. But who would have thought last week's #8 song would be this weeks #1. Thats right, No Doubt's "Underneath It All" has got to #1 again for the second week, and proves nothing is impossible. After falling from #1, it was believed that they wouldnt be #1 again. And after falling to #8, no one thought it would be in the top five with emerging acts from Eminem, Santana, and Missy Elliott. But this week, No Doubt rises seven spots to #1 to claim #1. And with a debut at #1 with "Platinum Blonde Life" on the heatseekers chart, No Doubt is up for a rock steady run in the next few weeks.
The top five was not as predictable as most weeks. After dropping to #4, the Distillers claim #2 again. Santana slips one spot to #3, and Eminem gains a spot to #4. Meanwhile, former #1 Camron has already decreased dramatically, dropping from #1 to #5. The rest of the top ten includes Missy Elliott, Boxcar Racer, Nivea, Kelly Rowland, and Pink, respectively. Next week's #1 could be easily predicted as No Doubt again, or The Distillers again. Eminem or Santana may take the spot, after weeks, only peaking at #2, each.
There were many debuts this week, but none higher than the hot shot debut by 3 Doors Down, "When Im Gone", which debuted at #32. This could very well be a potential #1. The second highest debut was at #49, and was by Top100-veteran Sheryl Crow with "Cmon Cmon." The Donnas debuted at #50 with "Take it Off." Meanwhile, Sheryl Crow has another debut this week, with Kid Rock, as "Picture" debuts high at #52. at #60, Norah Jones debuts with "Come Away With Me." Other notable debuts include the Former Heatseekers John Rzeznik and Nirvana with "Im Still Here", and "You Know Youre Right." The Vines debut at #92 with "Outtathaway!"
Sheryl Crow isnt the only veteran anymore, as Fat Joe and Ashanti receive a veterans award for their #1 hit "What's Luv" which spent 38 Weeks on the top 100 and peaked at #1 for a week. Other falloffs include Beenie Man, Vanessa Carlton [Ordinary Day], Eminem [Cleaning Out My Closet], Linkin Park, Coldplay, Samantha Mumba, and Crazy Town.
Tune in next week to see if tourmates No Doubt or the Distillers can reach #1, or if someone can break it up. Also, catch all new debuts by some of your favorite artists, and see if anyone can get a veteran award. See you next week.
