Commentary:
After finally taking #1, the Distillers spent three weeks at #1, but this week belongs to Camron, Toya, Julez Santana, and Freeky Zeekey. At week 12, the hit song Hey Ma finally landed a spot at the top of the top 100. Santanas Game of Love reached its peak, rising from #3 to #2. Missy Elliott also reached her peak at #3 with Work It with a recent peak of #4. The Distillers City of Angels fell to #4, and Eminems Lose Yourself dropped to #5, after a sudden rise to #2 with the release of 8-Mile. The rest of the top ten consists of Pink, Boxcar Racer, No Doubt, Nivea, and Kelly Clarkson, respectively. Ever since re-entering the top 100, Niveas single Dont Mess With My Man has got a huge success on the top 100. This week, the sales kick in as Nivea jumps from #17 to #9 in one week. This is Niveas personal peak of her career so far.
3LWs Neva Get Enuf Breaks a record on the top 100, but not necessarily one to be proud of. 3LW becomes the first artist to have the lowest peak # [100] and be on the charts for the shortest period of time. 3LW debuted at #100 with Neva Get Enuf last week, but feel off this week, becoming the only artist to have fallen off the charts after only one week at #100. They still have a chance to return and make success, as Nivea did. Well see.
A big week for the Minogues that is Kylie and Danni. Kylies single Come Into My World debuted this week at #67, but her single Love At First Sight fell off at week 21, which peaked at #14. Dannii Minogue debuts in the Newly established Heatseekers list [Songs that never made the top 100 yet], and debuts high at #1 for the Heatseekers which is #101 on the top 100. Other heatseekers include Nirvana, Clipse, Johnny Rzeznik, Leann Rhimes, and more.
This weeks highest debut comes courtesy of the Strokes at #30 with Someday. Other notable debuts include Kelly Osbournes Shut Up, Sum 41s Still Waiting, Stone Sours Bother, Kylie Minogues Come into my World, Coldplays Clocks, and Musiqs Dontchange.
Notable rises take place in BET freestyle Friday veteran Jin, and Rancid/Blink-182 formed band, The Transplants. Asian rapper Jins internet leaked song I Dont Know was leaked to radio stations two weeks ago. This week, he reaches his peak at #26, who was at #36 last week. On the other hand, Tim [Rancid] and Travis [Blink 182]s band The Transplants barely debuted at #97 last week. This week, they rise an enormous 60 spots to #37. the Top Ten critics said that this wouldnt rise above #80 by this week, but with the release of their new album, they were definitely proved wrong!
Last week, Ashanti hit week 40, but this week Michelle Branch hits week 40 with All You Wanted. If she lasts 10 more weeks on the charts, she may be the first to enter the Hall of Fame if Ashanti doesnt already. In two weeks, Ashanti will reach age 40 again, this time with Fat Joe in Whats Luv. Norah Jones former #1 Dont Know Why suddenly rose ten spots to #13 this week, which is the reason why most top twenty songs felt a quick fall. At week 21 being at #13, Jones may definitely be a top 100 veteran or even enter the hall of fame. The bulk hanging in the 80s that have passed age 30 are 311, Jimmy Eat World, No Doubt, Michelle Branch, Vanessa Carlton, and Ashanti. They are already guaranteed a veteran award with Sheryl Crow.
Camron became the first male artist to reach #1 on the Top 100. Last week, critics said that Eminem would take the spot, being the first male artist, but once again, they were proved wrong. Will Camron take the male domination further? Or will Santana or Eminem help? Or will Missy Elliotts Work It or the Distillers woman-fronted band continue the reign of woman artists? Well see next week.
