Commentary:
Today was another big week for the Distillers as they reach #1 again, although Eminem, Santana, and Missy Elliott [#2, 3, and 4 respectively] threaten to take it in the next couple weeks. Most surprisingly, Eminems Lose Yourself gained power rising from #8 to #2 and is this weeks greatest gainer in airplay. Santanas Game of Love went from #5 to #3, and Missy Elliotts Work It stayed another week at #4.
The rest of the top ten consists of No Doubts Underneath it All who fell from #2 to #5, Camrons Hey Ma, Pinks Family Portrait, Boxcar Racers There Is, Kelly Clarksons A Moment Like This, and Sugarcults Pretty Girl, respectively.
There were many rises in the top twenty this week. Tori Amos rises from #24 to #15 with A Sorta Fairytale. Jack Johnson rose from #20 to #16 with Bubble Toes. Nivea went from #25 to #17 with Dont Mess with My Man, which just re-entered the charts last week.
Debuts this week consist of mostly R&B and Hip Hop songs this week with the exception of the Transplants debut at #97.. Aaliyahs Miss You, Ameries Talkin to Me, Ja Rules Thug Lovin, and 3LWs Neva Get Enuf, which barely debuted at #100, all debuting this week. Aaliyah gets the hot shot debut debuting high at #28.
On the opposite end of debuts, we have falloffs, which consist of songs by Natalie Imbruglia, Nikki McKibbin, Jennifer Love Hewitt, and Utada Hikaru. But what stands out is Sheryl Crows Soak Up The Sun which peaked at #1 and spent 32 weeks in the top ten. Falling off this week, Sheryl Crow gets a vetran award for having her song in the top 100 for more than 30 weeks. Ashantis Foolish which hit week 40 is already a vetran, but may be entered in the hall of fame if she reaches week 50. And is seems possible as Foolish surprisingly rises from #94 to #79.
Tune in next week if the Distillers can take #1 for a fourth week. Or, will Missy Elliott, Santana, or Eminem take it? Well find out in a week. Stay tuned.
