Commentary:
The Distillers proved they were more than a #1 hit, when they stayed at #1 for week 2. The Distillers City of Angels did not let No Doubt, Camron, or Missy Elliott take the spot. No Doubt is still strong with Underneath it All at #2. They must beware, for Camron [3], Missy Elliott[4] and Santana [5] all have potential on gaining power over the next couple weeks. The rest of the top ten consists of Pink, Boxcar Racer, Eminem, Kelly Clarkson, and Sugarcult respectively.
This week was a busy week, as ten debuts and one re-entry entered the charts. Asian rapper from BETs Freestyle Friday, Jin, has his first debut, a hot shot debut. The song I Dont Know was leaked over the internet, and many fans started to listen to him, giving him a high debut at #37, even beating out Christina Aguilera. Aguileras second single from Stripped, Beautiful entered the charts also, at #42 but was unable to be the hot shot debut. Eves Satisfaction and Vanessa Carltons Pretty Baby also debuted in the top 50. Vanessa now has three singles in the top 100. Other debuts include the Red Hot Chili Peppers, LL Cool J, The Starting Line, TRUSTCompany, Crazy Town, and Nelly.
Nivea proved to be most powerful this week though. After weeks being off the chart, she takes a surprising return this week at #25 with Dont Mess With My Man. Tori Amos A Sorta Fairytale experiences a rise too going from #83 to #24 in one week. TLCs Girl Talk goes from #71 to #27 this week. Shania Twains latest rose from #64 to #38. John Mayer rose from #81 to #46 with Your Body is a Wonderland. Last, but not least, Dashboard Confessionals first single, Screaming Infidelities rose above the second single, Saints and Sailors from #85 to #57
This week was a bad week for Kelly Clarkson. A Moment like this, a while ago, Kelly Clarkson had three Hot Shot Debuts, one debuting at #1, a five week reign at #1, and everything she could want on the charts. This week, the memorable single, A Moment Like This drops from #3 to #9 making way for top ten newcomers Eminem, Pink, and Boxcar Racer. Will she actually be out of the top ten for the first time next week? Before Your Love has been out of the top ten for a while, this week sliding from #19 to #22. Last but not least, her radio single, Respect falls off the countdown after two weeks with a peak at #40. Will we be seeing much of Kelly in the future? With a new single, Forget December, it may start all over again with a hot shot debut. Tune in to see where Kelly lands.
The Distillers made it two weeks at #1, can they make three? Or will Camron, Missy Elliott, or Santana take their place. Tune in next week for the answers.
